Kevin Seawright in Baltimore: Creating Affordable Homes and Revitalizing Communities

On May 5, 2016, PRNewswire ran an article about Kevin Seawright and RPS Solutions LLC. The article talks about their joint venture to make affordable housing available in the city of Baltimore, Md. Mr. Seawright founded the partnership with RPS Solutions LLC as a way to grow the city.

The initial goal was to put together a system that would help people achieve home ownership. The idea was to move the needle above the current ownership rate of 48.3% thus creating more economic opportunity for all who live there.

Kevin celebrates each new homeowner as a step in the right direction toward their goal of raising the percentage. One of the most significant benefits the program hopes to achieve is improving the stability of neighborhoods and communities. Settling things down breeds economic growth.

The partnership offers interested buyers real estate services by hooking them up with mortgage lenders, construction services, and individuals interested in investing in the area by renovating fixer-upper housing units.

Everyone involved is convinced that reaching the goal is possible because of the ongoing efforts of Mr. Seawright and the RPS team. Kevin has worked to improve communities for close to fifteen years. He has held numerous positions in local governments and has an extensive background in accounting and financial management.

He has spent time and effort along the eastern seaboard developing and improving neighborhoods economically. In 2015, Kevin was added to the Newark CEDC, an organization that drives economic development in New Jersey’s largest city by helping pave the way for new businesses.

CrunchBase says Kevin Seawright has also spent time as an educator, and real estate developer in Washington D.C. It seems he has a passion for taking neighborhoods that are a little run down, physically and economically and bringing them back to life. Many communities in the United States could use someone with that kind of passion. Perhaps Mr. Seawright will eventually move westward. If you are interested, check him out on Twitter.

Dispute between District Attorney and Police Union

We all know that words are very powerful and we should be careful with what we say. George Gascon, District Attorney in San Francisco, has openly criticized the police union which he had worked closely with for years. His largest concern has been the police department’s diversity of employees. Gary Delagnes, a former president of the Police Officers Association stated that the police union makes it difficult to enact any type of reform when it comes to diversity among hires. Delagnes was on the police force for 25 years. He was also president of the POA for nine years. He retired in 2013. He remembers a 2010 dinner which Gascon was meeting for a police union leadership conference. Gascon was drinking heavily and making several derogatory remarks about minorities. He became loud and was approached by an African American who said his family was offended by his behavior and remarks.

With two men at odds, both tried to communicate better and handle situations in a more professional manner. Both men having ties with police work soon won out over their differences. They continued to work on matters of diversity and both men handled themselves with class and professionalism. Both agreed that nothing good would come from discussions that were meant to be personal. Off the record discussions were probably taken out of context and when both men disagreed they used their own words to create negative publicity. Both men have served his prospective jobs well and with class and dignity.

Brad Reifler Continues Push For Change In Investment World

For any investor trying to keep losses at a minimum, learning how to avoid the regular pitfalls is likely to come at a price. The awareness of sound investing principles could prove to be the difference between solid gains and a string of losses. This is something Brad Reifler knows. He has had a taste of both sides of the investment market; the 1% of huge wealthy investors and the other 99% of not-so-wealthy investors.

In a recent article, Reifler gave several tips that might place the average American investor on the path to becoming successful investors. His first tip was for investors to get to know the managers they appoint to manage their funds. This is important as investors need to have trust in the managers investing their money.

His second tip was for investors to refrain from fully committing their investment to the stock market. He advised them to take the safety of their money as a huge contributing factor to the decision on where to invest. Lastly, he advised the investors to have full knowledge of the investment and the objectives of making the investment. For successful investments, Reifler advised addition of funds to the same.

Brad Reifler has set out to bring change in the investment world for middle-class investors. He has now put his focus on non-accredited investors who have been considered by the investment world as not being smart enough to take part. Change however seems to be on the horizon. The SEC has taken note that for the past three decades, people have gained information on investment. A task force has made the recommendation for the repeal of the rules that have specified income and net worth requirements for the last 32 years.

A man at the forefront of the efforts to help the average American investor is Brad Reifler. Brad is a successful investor who is the CEO of Forefront Advisory and Forefront Capital Management. They serve as an advisory board and provide advice on the commodities and forex markets. Brad is a qualified and experienced investor with more than 30 years under his belt.

Brad formed his first company in 1982. Reifler Trading Company had a specialty in global derivatives and with its success, it was later acquired by Refco. Reifler proceeded to form Pali Capital. This is where Brad achieved a vast amount of his success. He managed the firm for 13 years, driving the company to make profits of over $200 million. Currently, Brad is the CEO of Forefront Group.

Melissa Click Tells Her Side of the Story

In November of 2015, Melissa Click became a national name and attained celebrity, but not in the way she was hoping. Click is a communications professor at the University of Missouri who was filmed trying to remove journalists who were covering student protests on campus. She used an unfortunate phrase calling for “some muscle” to escort one particular journalist away. The public backlash to the video of Click was intense.

Many who saw the video felt it was a blatant attack on the First Amendment right to the freedom of speech and also to the idea of freedom of the press. Click was severely punished in the aftermath. She was suspended from teaching while the university investigated the matter and she even suffered legal charges. Melissa click was formally charged with misdemeanor assault and local lawmakers have also demanded she be fired from her position. Some threats were even made against her and she has been the subject of insult and ridicule on a frequent basis.

Click feels that her words were taken out of context and that she has been treated unfairly. She wants to tell her side of the story. In order to get her side of things out to the public, Click sought the help of Status Labs a reputation management and public relations firm based in Austin, Texas. Status Labs arranged for Click to give several interviews with the press in the hopes of clearing her name and character.

First, Melissa Click apologizes for the words she spoke on that day. She says she truly did not intend harm to come to any journalists as a result of her action and her words came out from a burst of irrational anger. She just hopes that her critics will remember that she has been teaching students for 12 years and was respected as a teacher the entire time. She acknowledges her error in judgment and asks the public for forgiveness.

Darius Fisher, the president of Status Labs, felt it was important for his firm to represent Click. He believes she has been unfairly treated by the media, and she deserves sympathy because her angry words were intended to protect the students who were protesting.

Martin Lustgarten on What an Investment Banker Does

Martin Lustgarten is an investment banker. While those in the financial industry may already understand that term, Martin is very interested in helping others understand what he does allowing them to decide if working with an investment banker is the right choice for them.
One of the things that Martin does is connect companies looking to raise capital with people who have funds. Usually, when a company is looking to raise funds, they contact an investment banker who evaluates the value and risks of the business and determines a fair market price so that the company can issue bonds. The investment banker then sells these bonds.
An investment banker also assists companies with mergers and acquisitions. When working with a company that is interested in merging with others, Martin will first confidentially contact those who might be interested in the merger to gauge their level of interest. Then, he works with companies to prepare the legal paperwork and to secure approval from company shareholders.
Another part of Martin’s job is to trade securities, either through their own accounts or by matching buyers and sellers who are interested in the security. An important aspect of this part of his job is to conduct equity research
While the above job description may sound glamorous, Martin says that he also has to do a lot of work behind the scenes. Some of these duties include helping companies with risk management, financial control, corporate treasury, corporate strategy, compliance, operations and technology.
As the CEO of Martin Lustgarten Investments, he would love to talk to you about your own unique circumstances. He is interested in talking to people who have money to spend along with other CEOs that would like to merge their companies with others.

Rising Prices Driving out Residents

The bay are is the undisputed technological capital of the World, as just about every major internet and technological company has their company rooted between the major cities of San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland. The entire bay area has expanded in a myriad of ways over the last few years, jobs have been created as companies have poured in, but there have been a ton of problems that have come as well. First and foremost is the fact that housing prices have gone through the roof. Homes in San Jose have blossomed up to well over a million dollars, and to rent a moderate apartment in San Francisco, you would be lucky to be paying less then four or five thousand dollars. The entire bay area has seen a massive increase in traffic, with special lanes being constructed and tolls being paid to drive in certain lanes during rush hour.
There is one thing that just over a third of all people in the region have on their minds, and that is getting out of the area. For people that have lived in the bay area for their entire lives, which is a truly amazing place to live, it is incredibly bitter sweet to make the decision to leave. However, when you consider the fact that just by moving over to the Central Valley, you could buy five houses of equal value and likely put enough money in the bank to be set for life. This is especially true if you were doing decent to well in the bay area in recent years. Polls have showed that the bulk of people that want to leave have only been in the area for five years or less, but it really is remarkable to see so many people wanting to leave one of the areas that a ton of people consider one of the most desirable places in the country. Top notch weather, ample high paying jobs, a beautiful landscape, and large amounts of entertainment are not something that most people flee from, so the rising problems in the Bay Area in terms of housing costs and traffic are starting to become very apparent.

Spring Cleaning is Quicker with Handy

Spring cleaning is that wonderful time of year – depending on who you ask – where you get rid of the clutter and make your home new again. I get contractors from Handy to come out and help me clean the home from top to bottom. I book the services online and I let these contractors come in and do their jobs.

The Handy Cleaning Services business is booming, and I think that this company is the best that is out there. I used a local maid services company before. They were okay, but I just didn’t get the same level of quality that Handy gave. I became a loyal customer after getting my home cleaned last year around this time. Spring cleaning is becoming a regular thing with Handy. I love the way that this company is getting exposure, and I think that they really deserve it. The services are always good, and their work is something that I always brag about.

Spring cleaning is a dusty season, but I don’t worry about it much. I am allergic to dust, but I leave Handy in charge of clearing the dust. They wipe down the store, the refrigerator and the blinds that are all over the house. This saves me a lot of time and helps from refrain from a ton of sneezing. This alone is worth the price that is paid for this company to do the cleaning.

Coincidentally, the price that is paid isn’t much. It is actually much more affordable than I realized. I have hired some other cleaners in the past that have done less but cost more. That is why I stay with Handy. This is an affordable company that brings quality to the forefront. I like the fact that these contractors go out of their way to make sure that the customers are pleased.

Handy is an organization that has made life a little easier for people that are trying to balance their days. I don’t have the time to work all day and come home and clean all night is Handy is useful.
